Installing your e-SIM
Five minutes, on Wi-Fi, before you travel. The profile downloads over the internet — not over the plan you are installing.
Before you start
- Check the phone is e-SIM-capable and carrier-unlocked. On iPhone: Settings → General → About → look for “Available SIM” or an EID. On Android: dial *#06# and look for an EID.
- Connect to Wi-Fi. Installing over cellular can fail halfway.
- Install on the phone that will use the plan. A QR scanned by a second phone installs it on that second phone.
iPhone
- Settings → Cellular (or Mobile Service) → Add e-SIM.
- Choose “Use QR Code” and scan the code on your e-SIM page. If you are reading this on the same phone, tap “Enter Details Manually” instead and paste the SM-DP+ address and activation code.
- Give the plan a label you will recognise, such as the destination.
- Keep your home number as the default for calls and iMessage, and set the travel plan as your Cellular Data line once you land.
- Turn Data Roaming ON for the travel plan. This is what makes it work abroad, and it will not cost anything extra — the plan is prepaid.
Android
- Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add e-SIM. Samsung, Pixel and Xiaomi word this slightly differently, but the path is always under network or connection settings.
- Scan the QR code, or choose “Enter it manually” and paste the activation code.
- Once downloaded, enable the profile and turn Data Roaming on for it.
- If you have two SIMs, set the travel profile as your mobile data SIM.
If something is not working
“Unable to add cellular plan”
Almost always Wi-Fi dropping mid-download or the phone being carrier-locked. Reconnect to a stable network and try again; the code stays valid.
Installed, but no signal after landing
Check three things in order: the travel profile is turned on, Data Roaming is on for it, and it is selected as the mobile data line. If all three look right, restart the phone — the profile only searches for a partner network at start-up in some regions.
The QR code will not scan
Use manual entry. The SM-DP+ address and activation code on your e-SIM page are exactly what the QR code contains, and every e-SIM-capable phone accepts them typed in.
Can I move it to another phone?
No. An e-SIM profile can be installed once. If it is already on a device, it has to be removed there and reissued — email us and we will arrange it.
